The Whistler On DVD

The Power Of The Whistler
Sometimes referred to as "radio's master of mystery," the radio series was heard over the CBS radio network from 05/16/42 to 09/08/55.  Bill Foreman was The Whistler in the radio series.  To see the audio CD's from this series that are available, click here: The Whistler.
This is the third of eight feature films in the series.  Released on 04/19/1945, the story line is that William Everest (played by Richard Dix) is a homicidal maniac suffering from amnesia after being hit by a car.  Jean Lang (played by Janis Carter), is a amateur fortuneteller.  While at The Salt Shaker restaurant with her sister and her sister's fiancée, she reads the fortune of William Everest who is sitting at the bar.  The cards come up bad for William Everest, death within 24 hours, and Jean wants to help.
Look for the uncredited screen appearance of Cy Kendall (radio star) as the druggist.  Several other radio types are not credited for this production, such as Wilbur Hatch for the music.  Also not credited is the voice of The Whistler, Otto Forrest.  The story line is by Aubrey Wisberg, suggested by the radio program.  Directed by Lew Landers.
