The Witch's Tale

The Witch's Tale was heard from 05/21/31 to 10/15/34 from WOR New York and then continued on until 06/13/38 over Mutual. The original voice for Old Nancy the Witch was played by Adelaide Fitz-Allen, but she died in 1935 at the age of 79. Alonzo Deen Cole, the writer and director of the series auditioned Miriam Wolfe from the Let's Pretend regular's and hired her on the spot to play the role of Old Nancy after hearing her. Miriam was 13 years old at the time.


The following episodes were heard in two different versions of the show. The show was produced with the ability of the local stations to air them as a 30 minute format, or as a two parter 15 minute format feature. A mixture of both formats are found on the following CD's.

Each of the following broadcasts were aired in the 15 & 30 minute format unless otherwise noted.
